Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin Live-Action Movie Coming From Paramount

According to THR we are going to be getting a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie from Paramount that will be based on the IDW The Last Ronin comic book mini-series and be rated R. The movie will be written by Tyler Burton Smith (2019 Child's Play). Walter Hamada will be producing it.

When I saw this I was surprised that the studio would put out a dark R rated version of a what is an IP geared towards children and, at least to some extent, meant to generate revenue through licensing. Seems like a risky movie to make. Seeing the graphic above (I didn't read the comic) now I'm thinking maybe it would work. As long as they don't market it as a TMNT movie, kids may not even know what it is. Sounds like an interesting story.

Great comic, could make an interesting movie. But having the screenwriter of the Child's Play remake is worrying.
