Lionsgate has made a major deal with Millennium Media for the
Rambo and
The Expendables franchises. According to
Variety, the agreement gives Lionsgate rights to develop and produce all derivative works, including films and TV shows, for
The Expendables, and worldwide distribution rights for
John Rambo, the upcoming sixth installment of the
Rambo series. Lionsgate will also partner on future
Rambo TV projects and can participate in upcoming films. The rights extend to additional media like video games and immersive experiences.
Noah Centineo is in final talks to star in
John Rambo, directed by Jalmari Helander, with production starting next year in Thailand. Millennium Media and Templeton Media are producing, with a screenplay by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani.
Lionsgate COO Brian Goldsmith said the deal strengthens their action franchise portfolio, while Millennium Media’s Jonathan Yunger called Lionsgate the ideal partner. Lionsgate already distributes existing
Expendables and
Rambo films in several regions. Negotiations were led by executives from both companies.
