Weekend Box Office: Avatar: Fire and Ash Makes It Five in a Row

January 19, 2026
Avatar: Fire and Ash remained at the top of the domestic box office for the fifth straight weekend of release with $13.3 million. Its North American total now sits at $363 million, and $1.32 billion worldwide. This still places it about halfway behind both Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water’s global take with $2.9 billion and $2.3 billion, respectively.

The rest of the U.S. Top 5 Box Office Results for January 16-18:

Number two this week was the debuting 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple with $13 million. The fourth installment in Sony’s 28 Days Later franchise, directed by Nia DaCosta and written by series creator Alex Garland, follows last year’s 28 Years Later and brings back Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell and Alfie Williams.

In third place is Zootopia 2 with $8.8. The animated sequel has remained a box office powerhouse for eight weeks now with $393 million domestically and $1.7 billion globally. Zootopia 3 seems inevitable at this point.

Fourth place went to The Housemaid with $8.5 million. Lionsgate’s psychological thriller has now grossed $108.7 million in North America and $247.3 million globally. The film is based on the first novel in a trilogy by Freida McFadden, and the sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret, is in the works with star Sydney Sweeney and director Paul Feig.

In the fifth spot is Marty Supreme with $5.4 million. The movie has earned $80.8 million domestically, surpassing A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once’s $77 million as the studio’s highest-grossing North America film.

Notice how the McFarlane Varang figure sold out pretty much everywhere over the weekend as buzz about the movie and the tent scene grabbed headlines.
