Amazon MGM Studios Developing Live-Action FernGully Remake

Amazon MGM Studios has greenlit a live-action remake of the 1992 animated classic FernGully: The Last Rainforest. Marielle Heller (A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) is set to both write and direct the film. The movie will be produced by Stacey Sher, alongside Susan Ursitti-Sheinberg, Jon Sheinberg, and Matt Feige. No official casting has been announced.

The live-action version will follow the original's premise of a human logger named Zak who is accidentally shrunk to fairy size in an Australian rainforest. He joins forces with local fairies, including Crysta, to stop a destructive logging operation and defeat Hexxus, the malevolent spirit of pollution.
