The Hilbert Museum of California Art has announced that a dedicated exhibition titled “The Art of the Simpsons” will open on November 18. This first-of-its-kind show for the museum will be housed in the North Gallery at Chapman University as part of the museum's 10th-anniversary celebration. The exhibit will showcase a vast collection of original production materials from the show's history.
Included in the exhibition will be original sketches and hand-drawn concepts of iconic characters originally created by Matt Groening and hand-painted animation cels drawn by the show’s animators. The exhibition is planned for an extended run.
The Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University is located in Orange, California. Admission is free for all audiences, though advance online reservations are highly recommended due to expected high demand. The extensive Hilbert Collection also houses art from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm.
