In a Mother’s Day Weekend showdown, The Devil Wears Prada 2 maintained its lead atop the domestic box office with $43 million, fending off the debut of Mortal Kombat II. The video game inspired sequel earned $40 million, and while only good for second place, it significantly outperforming the 2021 reboot’s $23.3 million opening.

Another film with a strong debut was Hugh Jackman’s The Sheep Detectives, coming in at number 4 with $15.9 million. Directed by Kyle Balda, the PG-rated mystery-comedy follows a flock of sheep trying to solve their shepherd's murder.

The only other new entry in the Top 10 was Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft - The Tour Live in 3D, which landed in the fifth spot. The 3D concert film documenting Billie Eilish’s seventh headlining world tour earned $7.5 million. Co-directed by Eilish and Academy Award winner James Cameron, the film features performances captured in 2025 during Eilish's multi-night run at Co-op Live in Manchester, England. It utilizes proprietary 3D camera systems developed by Cameron’s Lightstorm Vision to provide an immersive experience that blends live concert footage with intimate, behind-the-scenes moments.

I often wonder why our country is the way it is. Then I see people were dumb enough to go see a wayans brothers movie and I realize that most people are just stupid.

I didn't like the first movie but MK2 was great. Very fun movie if you're a fan of the games.

I'm pretty happy Cronin's Mummy flopped. Focusing body horror and gore on a child is a little extreme.

Notice how the McFarlane Varang figure sold out pretty much everywhere over the weekend as buzz about the movie and the tent scene grabbed headlines.
