Keanu Reeves in Talks to Star in New Lego Movie

June 24, 2026
Keanu Reeves is in negotiations to star in a new live-action hybrid Lego movie for Universal, with Josh Cooley attached to direct. The project would reunite Reeves and Cooley after their work on Toy Story 4, where Reeves voiced the scene-stealing stuntman toy Duke Caboom and Cooley directed the Oscar-winning Pixar sequel.

Universal has been developing a new Lego feature since acquiring the film rights in 2020, but the studio has been searching for the right creative direction. According to insiders familiar with the project, the latest version was built around Reeves, with Cooley later brought in to pitch his take on the material. Reeves’ interest helped move the project forward, though plot details remain under wraps.

Toy Story 4 grossed more than $1 billion worldwide and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, while Reeves’ Duke Caboom became one of the film’s breakout characters. Reeves, who reprised the role in Toy Story 5, continues to balance blockbuster franchise work with animation and genre projects, making the potential Lego film another high-profile addition to his slate.
