Daniel Radcliffe, Young Mazino and Peter Dinklage are joining Netflix’s animated feature Steps, a new spin on the Cinderella story from directors Alyce Tzue and John Ripa. Radcliffe will voice The Prince, Dinklage will play Roderick and Mazino will voice Gef.
The newly announced trio joins a previously revealed voice cast that includes Amanda Seyfried as Cinderella, Ali Wong as Lilith, Stephanie Hsu as Margot, Bette Midler as the Fairy Godmother and Nikki Glaser as Priscilla.
The film turns the familiar fairy tale inside out by shifting attention to Cinderella’s so-called “evil” stepsisters. Lilith, tired of living in Cinderella’s shadow, steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and crashes the Royal Ball with her sister Margot, upending the story and leaving the kingdom vulnerable to Priscilla, a scheming villain who seizes the throne. To set things right, Lilith must join forces with Cinderella on a quest aimed not only at saving the kingdom, but also at repairing their fractured relationship.
Amy Poehler, Jane Hartwell and Kim Lessing are producing the film. The screenplay was written by Ava Tramer, James Madejski, Jen Chuck, Dana Schwartz and Felicia Ho.
Netflix is set to release Steps on November 20.
