Warner Bros. Shifts Release Calendar as The Batman Part II Moves to 2028

by Shawn Kirk
July 15, 2026
Warner Bros. is making a fresh round of release-date moves, with J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi fantasy feature The Great Beyond, starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, shifting from Nov. 13 to Oct. 1, 2027. The move bumps Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II from that slot to Feb. 18, 2028.

The new date places The Batman Part II over the four-day Presidents Day holiday frame, a corridor that has become familiar territory for superhero titles including Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Captain America: Brave New World.

Also currently dated for Presidents Day weekend 2028 are an untitled Disney release and Sony’s original action sci-fi feature Grandgear, from Godzilla Minus One filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki. However, The Batman Part II is still expected to have Imax screens on its new date.

Jscott.....I agree with you on every point. To me the best part of Reeves' Batman was the score, the car and the Penguin (and that was essentially a Deniro impersonation) thats it.

Gunn was always the wrong choice to helm DC movies and he continues to prove it.

So DCU's solo Batman will be coming in 2030ish then?

Jscott.....Supergirl bombed hard. If Clayface doesnt get traction Gunn's days at DC are numbered. Man of Tomorrow is already sounding even goofier than his Superman was.

Cedric Diggory's Batman wasn't exactly a huge hit either.

DC needs to clean house. Get rid of all of them and start over. No more Gunn. No more Diggory. No more Blue Beetle (wth was that announcement?).

Delaying Batman till 2028 isnt wise but maybe the new bosses at Warners might fix that.

I keep expecting this movie to be cancelled. Why put so much effort into a film universe you plan to fold up (Gunn is going to have his own Batman)?

Gunns isnt hoing to survive if Supergirl bombs and Clayface. Having this 2nd Batman is fine. Its hurting no one and will be superior to whatever Gunn gives us. Superman was semi-trash. Its ab embarrassment. At least The Batman comes off as cinematic.

Would be great if she played...nobody, I'd love to not have to see her in every single damn movie, she's so thirsty, I'm worn out by her, cast like any other capable actor..give somebody who is less fortunate some work.

I would guess because the first movie made a lot of money. And The Penguin show being a hit also helps too.

Would be great to see her as Phantasm, imo

Phantasm would be awesome but everyone would call it if that character's in the movie.
