Alvin and the Chipmunks are officially returning, as Big Shot Pictures has partnered with Bagdasarian Productions to launch a digital-first reboot of the iconic trio. The strategy relies heavily on modern internet culture, turning Alvin, Simon, and Theodore into social media "influencers" who react to real-time pop culture events, create viral videos, and cover songs on platforms like YouTube. This new phase serves as a long-term buildup to a full-length theatrical feature film slated for the second half of 2028, timed to celebrate the franchise's 70th anniversary.
Short-form social media content will begin dropping later this year.
