Netflix Appears to Have Pushed The Witcher Season 5 to Next Year

Netflix has reportedly delayed The Witcher Season 5 until 2027, pushing it out of its originally planned 2026 release window. While the streaming giant has not officially confirmed the shift, industry tracking sites noted that the fantasy epic was recently removed from Netflix’s promotional lineups for its upcoming yearly slate. This upcoming fifth season is set to be the final chapter of the live-action series, concluding the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books.

The scheduling change has surprised some fans because Season 5 completely finished filming in late 2025, having been shot back-to-back with Season 4. Industry insiders speculate that the delay is due to an extended post-production process required for heavy visual effects. It is also believed that Netflix wants to avoid overcrowding its late 2026 programming slate with too many major sci-fi and fantasy titles.

Liam Hemsworth will continue his role as Geralt of Rivia following the departure of Henry Cavill. He will anchor the final season alongside Freya Allan as Ciri and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer.
