Nancy Cartwright Says The Simpsons Could End with Season 40

The Simpsons may be nearing its final seasons, according to Nancy Cartwright, the longtime voice of Bart Simpson.

During an appearance on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Cartwright was asked how long she thinks the animated series will continue. Her answer was a direct, “40.”

When Rosenbaum pressed on whether she was certain, she clarified, “That’s my opinion.”

The Simpsons has been a television institution since the series debuted in 1989. Fox renewed the series through Season 40 last year, with Season 38 set to premiere next month.

Despite her prediction, Cartwright made it clear she would be happy to continue voicing Bart as long as the cast and crew are still around and the show keeps getting renewed. When asked if she would keep going under those circumstances, Cartwright responded, “Yeah, we’ll keep going then.”

Cartwright emphasized that her prediction is only her personal opinion—not an official announcement from Fox or the show's producers.
