Masters of the Universe Actor Jon Cypher Dies at 94

Jon Cypher, the veteran actor best known to fantasy fans as Man-at-Arms in the 1987 live-action film Masters of the Universe, has died at age 94. He passed away peacefully at his home in Central Point, Oregon, with his wife of 40 years, Carol Rosin, by his side.

Cypher’s entertainment career spanned nearly 50 years across television, film, and theater. In 1957, he starred as Prince Charming opposite Julie Andrews in the first live television broadcast of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. He later played the sharp-tongued Chief of Police Fletcher Daniels throughout all seven seasons of the landmark police drama Hill Street Blues. He also appeared as Brigadier General Marcus Craig on the CBS sitcom Major Dad and primetime soap operas with recurring roles on Dynasty, Dallas, and Knots Landing.

Off screen, Cypher was a classically trained opera singer who often entertained friends and family. He was also an author, publishing a collection of 99 limericks titled If You’re Not Depressed You Oughta Be in Therapy in 2019.
