Pixar is developing a new original film inspired by Asian myths about supernatural bazaars where the living and the dead cross paths. Titled Ghost Market, the movie is set to arrive in theaters in 2028.
Footage screened at D23 introduces Kyle, a fast-talking content creator from Chicago in Hawaii. While searching for a late-night snack, Kyle wanders into a dark, empty roadside food market. He comes across a warm bowl of ramen and asks, "Hey, do you guys take Apple Pay?" Suddenly, the ramen begins to float in mid-air, lifted by an unseen supernatural force.
The teaser then cuts to a vertical, smartphone vlog-style FaceTime shot of Kyle speaking directly to the camera. He explains that it is a movie about "hungry ghosts" where "a lot of crazy stuff happens," reassuring the audience that it blends spooky and comedic elements rather than being a nightmare-inducing horror film.
