Amazon MGM Studios Developing Squishmallows Movie

Amazon MGM Studios is developing a tentpole family feature film based on the wildly popular Squishmallows plush toy franchise. The studio is co-producing the movie alongside toy creator Jazwares and veteran producer Beau Flynn (Moana, Jungle Cruise).

It is currently unknown whether the film will be animated, live-action, or a hybrid and no directors, writers, or voice actors have been attached to the project yet.

Insiders report that Amazon MGM spared no expense for the licensing rights, aiming to create a global, four-quadrant event film to replicate the massive toy-to-cinema success of films like Barbie.

Since launching in 2017, Squishmallows has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar global phenomenon with over 600 million plushies sold worldwide, featuring a universe of over 3,000 original characters.
