First Look at The New Simpsons Movie Shown at D23

Disney officially unveiled the title and first look at the highly anticipated sequel, The New Simpsons Movie, at D23. Dropping 20 years after the 2007 original, the animated film is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on September 3, 2027.

The teaser plays out with Homer attending a Springfield Isotopes baseball game. When a runaway baseball flies out of bounds, the entire town erupts into an absolute mad dash to claim it. The slapstick chase sequence sweeps through staple Springfield landmarks, including Moe's Tavern and the Duff Brewery.

Beyond the big-screen sequel news, series creator Matt Groening hinted that The Simpsons: Hit & Run is coming back in some form, though current showrunner Matt Selman immediately interjected with “...or not” suggesting Groening may have spoken out of turn.
