The Muppets released a heartfelt tribute online calling Tim Curry an "honorary Muppet" following his passing at age 80.
The official The Muppets Instagram account posted a photo of Curry as Long John Silver from 1996's
Muppet Treasure Island, accompanied by a touching message:
Few humans have earned the title of honorary Muppet more than the legendary Tim Curry. As a performer he was unparalleled – witty, charming, unnerving, and deeply funny. We will always consider it one of our greatest treasures to have been part of Long John Silver’s crew. Thank you for everything, Tim.
Curry often expressed how much he loved working with the cast, noting that the three-month shoot for
Muppet Treasure Island was one of the most fun experiences of his career.
