Adult Swim has unveiled the first red-band trailer for Get Jiro, its animated adaptation of the graphic novels from the late Anthony Bourdain and Joel Rose. The series is set to premiere Oct. 3 as part of the network’s Toonami programming block, followed by its HBO Max debut Oct. 4.
Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios, Get Jiro is set in a post-apocalyptic, near-future Los Angeles where chefs wield the city’s ultimate power — and food has become both currency and a potent marker of social status.
Rick Morales, whose credits include Mortal Kombat Legends and Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, directs the series, with Jonathan Hoekstra serving as art director.
Brian Tee (Chicago Med) lends his voice to Jiro, a mysterious sushi chef from Los Angeles’ Outer Ring who embarks on a violent quest for revenge. Titus Welliver (Bosch: Legacy), Alison Pill (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Justin Kirk (Weeds) round out the principal voice cast.
Anthony Bourdain was soooo cool, like of course they had to make this into a show eventually, I feel like we are seeing a massive Bourdain popularity resurgence since that Biography film came out.
