Disney+ is no longer moving forward with its live-action
Gargoyles series,
a source confirmed to Variety.
The project was announced in 2023, with writer Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster developing a live-action adaptation of the beloved Disney animated series, which ran from 1994 to 1997.
The original
Gargoyles followed a clan of stone gargoyles who came to life at night. After being betrayed and cursed by a spell in 10th-century Scotland, the gargoyles remained trapped in stone for 1,000 years before awakening in modern-day New York with the help of wealthy industrialist David Xanatos. The gargoyles ultimately made New York their home and vowed to protect the city.
The animated series developed a strong cult following, and multiple attempts have been made over the years to revive the franchise.

Sort of. While talking with Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner mentioned on the podcast he does with Jonathan Frakes that he was contacted about a new animated series. Neither Frakes, nor Dorn, who had both been in the original cartoon had apparently heard anything, and Disney hasn't said anything about an animated revival.

honestly I might be one of the few, who actually really wanted to see Live action Gargoyles, I always thought it could be fantastic in live action, the potential was there, sure maybe not in 2026, as we know how things can sometimes drop the ball, but I still would have liked to given it a try.
