Weekend Box Office: Practical Magic 2 Casts Spell on Moviegoers

September 14, 2026
Practical Magic 2 conjured up a $30 million domestic debut, landing the No. 1 spot and ending Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s impressive six-week reign at the top. The romantic fantasy sequel reunites Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman nearly three decades after the original Practical Magic.

While Spider-Man: Brand New Day slipped to second place, the blockbuster continued its record-breaking run. The film is now just $1.5 million away from claiming the all-time domestic box office crown.

Christopher Nolan’s epic The Odyssey held firm at No. 3, crossing $600 million domestically and soaring past $1.6 billion worldwide. The blockbuster has now become Universal’s highest-grossing film ever, adding another milestone to its massive theatrical run.

The weekend also delivered a major career achievement for Tom Holland. Thanks to the enormous success of Brand New Day and The Odyssey, combined with his previous appearances in the Spider-Man and Avengers franchises, Holland has officially become Hollywood’s highest-grossing actor of all time based on cumulative box office earnings.

Among the weekend’s other new releases, the action comedy Runner, starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson, opened in fourth place. South Korean sci-fi thriller Hope landed at No. 8, while the historical action drama The Uprising, starring Andrew Garfield, rounded out the new releases in ninth.

Here are the Top 10 Domestic Box Office results for September 11-13:

1 - Practical Magic 2 (Warner Bros.) - $30 million

Practical Magic is a fun old favorite. Cant wait to see the sequel. I think its based on a sequel story to the original novel, which is a plus.So glad most of the original cast has returned, as they all had great chemistry, and from watching the interviews its clear they still do.

Supergirl even underperformed the very low $45 million estimates people were making before it opened. What a complete disaster. And what a death blow Gunn has dealt to one of my favorites superhero characters. Why he and Alcock couldn't tell and promote a normal Supergirl story is beyond me. Oh well.

Making 44 million dollars a weekend is hardly "dominating". Disclosure Day seems like a flop, financially, word of mouth is already out that it is boring and ends just after delivering its message.

I didn't like the first movie but MK2 was great. Very fun movie if you're a fan of the games.

I'm pretty happy Cronin's Mummy flopped. Focusing body horror and gore on a child is a little extreme.

Notice how the McFarlane Varang figure sold out pretty much everywhere over the weekend as buzz about the movie and the tent scene grabbed headlines.
