Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond is headed back to the big screen.
Amazon MGM Studios announced that Casino Royale will return to theaters worldwide in October to mark the film’s 20th anniversary. A specific release date has not yet been announced.
Released in 2006, Casino Royale marked a major reset for the long-running 007 franchise, introducing Craig’s harder-edged, more grounded take on the British spy after years of increasingly heightened Bond adventures.
The film launched Craig’s five-movie run as Bond, a tenure that concluded with 2021’s No Time to Die. The anniversary rerelease arrives as Amazon MGM continues to develop the next installment in the franchise, with Denis Villeneuve attached to direct after completing work on Dune: Part Three.
Casting for the next James Bond has been underway since the spring, while writer Steven Knight has said a first draft of the script is complete. Producers have not yet announced who will succeed Craig in the role.
