Are New Street Sharks Figures In The Works From Storm Collectibles?

by Jay Cochran
June 23, 2021
Earlier today overseas company Storm Collectibles caused quit a stir on the net by posting a tweet on their US based social media account that seemed to be teasing that they were going to be doing action figures based on the 90's animated series Street Sharks.

The tweet was removed quickly, but not before multiple people had been able to take screen shots of it. The show was about the adventures of half-man/half-sharks like characters which had a toy line done originally by Mattel.

Street Sharks is not the typical kind of action figure line I would expect to come from Storm Collectibles who primarily does 1/12 action figures based on older video games. That doesn't mean it's impossible. So the question remains. Did someone at Storm Collectibles mess up and let something slip out before it was supposed to, or did someone just make a tweet in error that has no barring on upcoming products? I guess only time will tell.

Yeah I was the same with Storm Golden Axe figures except I still never pulled the trigger because it's way too expensive, I really however want them, it was a dream come true they made those figures, but I collect a lot of lines and like diversity it's not like I can't afford (probably same with you) these figures, but I get siked out thinking..I could buy 2-4 figures for this price of one, and I always imagine buying 100 dollars figures for years to come seems crazy, I still have other things I need to spend money on, food, shelter, life in general etc, if I was going to trim down my collecting..sure collecting big buck imports would make sense..but I want to collect multiple lines, if we only collected say...Storm stuff you'd 1 never get to hunt in stores, 2 only get figures so often, what's the fun in that, gotta run with Disciple and plan I guess haha.

Exactly. I wasn't going broke, but I don't know if the joy of having these $100 was any higher than the joy of $20 retail figures. And I'm like you and collect a lot of lines, and I hit a point where I was getting too much for the space I had and didn't feel like I was appreciating what I had, so I've been thinning out what I get and trying to make a list of what I hope to get and stick closer to that. I loved those storm MK figures, but I'm ok to have the chunk of change in my pocket in space of it.

Exactly. I was the same with Mortal Kombat. I had always wanted classic designs and storm delivered. I was all in, but they kept upping their prices to $80-90 a regular figure and then the first few were going for so much on the aftermarket I just had to nix it and sell them. Great figures, and I know they're imports so they aren't cheap. But it's quite an investment for a line.

I would have thought that if anybody was going to make Street Sharks figures it was going to be Super 7. I used to watch this show when I was a kid but I wasn't a huge fan,out of all of the Ninja Turtles clones I was invested in Biker Mice from Mars the most.

You can watch the show in Tubi for free... You know they make this news on purpose to see how people react to it... This was planned.???

I have been dreaming of a new modern Street Shark line, but my issue is the price point with Storm, it's like a dream in a nightmare if this actually comes to fruition, I want new Street Sharks so bad but 100 CAD for a figure plus shipping is a hard pill to swallow.

give the license to like Jazwares...pretty pleeez

Street sharks? Uh....yes please! Storm would be perfect for these due to their bulk and how the softer plastic overlays allow for the best articulation

I feel like they would make pretty cool figures. Similar to their Goro figure. But is there a big enough market for Street Sharks for $80 figures?
