True! They were a little better with it in the earlier runs of the comics, but later on they drifted away from that as the weapons became more sci-fi.
I like this because you never saw G.I. Joe or Cobra reloading any weapons in the cartoons or comic books. Who knows if Gung-Ho hit anything but he still needs to reload...
