A couple of weeks ago, around the same time as the whole
San Diego Comic Con craze,
Walmart held their
Collector Con ("
Calling all superfans!"), where they added a ton of coveted exclusive figures, such as Marvel Legends, G.I.Joe Classified Series, Star Wars The Black Series, Transformers, WWE Ultimates, or the
Collector Con edition of the TMNT Mutant Mayhem figures. Superfans who managed to place their order only had a bit more than a week to pat themselves on the back, as
Walmart would end up cancelling a lot of those orders...
ToyFarce investigated...
We sat down with a
Walmart spokesperson who tried to explain to us that it was part of a new campaign, trying to make
Walmart "
fresh and relevant" again: "
Nowadays, we hear lots of talks about 'Cancel culture'. It seems that it's everything that young people are talking about these days: 'Cancel culture this, Cancel culture that'. It's always trending! So, at Walmart, we decided to be a part of that Cancel culture too, and cancelled a bunch of orders. Hopefully, soon, Walmart will be trending too!"
Oh, it might be trending, but probably not for the
good reasons...
"Cancelled anything lately? Because we sure did!"
More news at 11:00...
Walmart: Save money. We'll cancel.
