Last week, tons of toy collectors discovered something that New Yorkers have been knowing all along:
The New York City real estate prices are way too darn high! "
The prices have been creeping up for a long time, and it has gotten out of hand!" said a long time NY resident. "
Some of us can't even afford to rent a room in the sewers!".
ToyFarce investigated.
Last Thursday,
NECA put their
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Cartoon) Sewer Lair Living Room diorama up for pre-order on their website. The diorama itself seems to be massive, and according to the many fans that saw it in person at San Diego Comic Con last month, looks
pretty amazing. The only issue collectors seem to have with it is the price:
$299. The reason for it is unfortunately pretty simple:
Living in New York City is really expensive.
"
The housing market in NYC is incredibly expensive at the moment, and selling a reproduction of the sewer lair, which is a real property in New York, has to match that price." a NECA employee told ToyFarce. "
If we priced it too low, it could have had a negative impact on the value of the real place. And that is the price just for Living room! There's still the Kitchen and Donatello's lab also coming later!"
Special thanks to @radtoyologist!
Are you going to pick up the
NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Cartoon) Sewer Lair Living Room diorama? Or are you going to try to make your own/ 3D print one that will inevitably collapse under the weight of the street diorama the second you put it on top?
