It's
Wednesday and you know what that means...
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the
Odious the Living Curse 1/12 scale figure from
Unparalleled Universe (
... Toys?).
Unparalleled Universe is a
Youtube channel with weekly live shows, hosted by
Wade Merrick who created the character of
Odious, the Living Curse. After a successful
Kickstarter campaign,
Odious is now an action figure, and a pretty great one, I might add!
The story goes like this:
So long ago that he cannot even recall his birth name, Odious was once a man who sacrificed his soul in order to save his people. Little did he know that in, making this sacrifice, he sentenced himself to eternal torment. Odious is cursed to live lives that aren't his as an unwilling parasite consuming the bodies of those unlucky enough to shed blood upon his stone remains. Those who do so, must give up their place on this earth to ODIOUS THE LIVING CURSE!!!!
My haul from the Kickstarter, including a "Lil' O" Odious plushie and the additional weapons by Nico Hodge aka Artman customs.
Beautiful packaging with tons of easter eggs newspaper clippings from the Unparalleled Universe lore on the inside.
Half monster, half hero, Odious is committed to doing right by the people he has taken over by protecting what they hold dear and hunting down the monsters hidden among us... The figure is fully articulated, with detailed sculpting, layered paint, and soft goods clothing! Odious comes with
5 different head sculpts,
8 different pairs of hands,
jeans,
2 flannel jackets (
with and without sleeves), a
black overcoat (wired!) and his
skull mace.
"Hey! You! You better not have wet teeth!"
This is a
great figure, that moves very nicely. The
soft goods are of great quality, and all the different
head sculpts and
hands allows for tons of poses and stories for toy photography. The
details on the body without clothes are also very good. My only nitpick are that the heads are a bit annoying to change, since the peg hole is a bit tight, but it is a known issue and the figure came with a
note saying to apply heat on the heads in order to change them more easily. For a first offering, though, this is pretty much a
homerun!
Odious is pretty jacked, under the flannel!
Knives out!
Not the Odious we need... but the Odious we deserve.
This was the first version that was available through the
Kickstarter, but
Wade has already shown other versions of it (
Inmate version at SDCC, military, etc...). Since the
Odious curse can possess anybody, there are tons of possibilities for the figure.
