"
It felt like I was really there. I mean, I was... but it felt even more like it!" - As thousands of lucky fans and collectors gathered in San Diego for
Comic Con 2025, one collector's journey stood out as the most relatable of them all.
Brian, 38, proudly confessed that his entire
SDCC experience consisted of watching
news websites,
recap videos,
toy reveal livestreams, and
blurry Instagram reels... exclusively from the comfort of
the convention center's bathroom.
ToyFarce investigated...
"
When I arrived at the convention on preview night, it was already really packed. Being able to see any reveals required queueing for at least an hour with 300 other fans and collectors, and wait that the ones that are taking pictures and videos are done... so I just went to the bathroom, and that's where I had the idea" said Brian, live from his porcelain
SDCC throne at Hall H.
Armed with snacks, a power bank, and a few extra toilet paper rolls he brought from home,
Brian claims he didn't miss a thing:
"
NECA booth walkthrough? Watched it on the toilet.
Hasbro livestream? Toilet.
Mattel Creations exclusive drops? Ordered while on the toilet.
Being amazed by all the reveals at the Mondo booth? You guessed it — toilet."
"
I even recreated the con experience by having someone bang on the door and ask if I was done yet" he added.
Other remote collectors resonated with
Brian's story. The hashtags
#ToiletCon2025 and
#SDCCFromTheCan began trending on toy collector forums, with hundreds admitting they too spent the majority of
Comic Con "
attending panels" while sitting on their "
home convention seat".
Whether you were
in San Diego or on your
Sanitary Device Convention Chair last weekend, we hope your
SDCC experience was a blast.
Just maybe... light a candle next time?
