It's
Wednesday and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
It's Flippin' time! This week, we're having a look at the
Flip-Or and
Flak-R Deluxe figures from the
Flip-Or and the Champions of Nefarity line by
Hatter Toys!
Flip-Or and the Champions of Nefarity is the brainchild of Nir, the man behind the
Mad Hatter Reviews Youtube channel, and focuses on
Flip-Or, the first action figure of a toy flipper! I backed the
Kickstarter immediately, went for a hero and a villain, and here they are!
#FlipLife
The line draws inspiration from the
Masters of the Universe figures from the 80's, with a
toy collector/
toy community twist. It's brilliant, and like I said on the
Collection Nexus show earlier this week (
#CheapPlug, and Mad Hatter was the guest the week before!), I'm half mad that I didn't think of it myself, after making articles and jokes about flippers/scalpers for years. Now I get to review a figure of one!
It's funny how things work sometimes... The figures come with a ton of fun accessories, in theme with the characters. So many accessories that they come in a box, complete with the line's logo on it, in order to fit everything. The blister cards are
collector friendly, and you can slide the cards back in if you want to put the figures back in their packaging to flip them!
Flip-Or, the satirical lord of flipping, comes with
2 heads (
normal and battle damaged, after a fight with an angry customer, I bet),
4 pairs of hands (
flat hands, 2 sets of grabby hands, and flip-bird hands), his trusted
Flipper scoop to scoop exclusive items in his backpack with,
Cat-Cha (
that's right, it's actually a two-pack!),
2 money bags, a
pocket watch and the
Sceptre of FOMO which he can use to stop time and grab collectibles before anyone else, his
Cloak of Tarjayy (
you know, with a red symbol on it... *wink wink*),
mini versions of the Flip-or figures along with
mini toy boxes for him to flip. The mini toy boxes have parodies of highly sought-after items, such as the
P.I.S.S. tank or
Liar-O. Brilliant stuff, I love it. The figures also come with a
mini-comic with great art and a hilarious story, revealing more characters (
such as Evil-Bae, which I'm sure will be a nefarious auctioneer in that universe). To top all that, the card from the packaging also opens to reveal a
backdrop of the medieval market of
Tarjayy.
We're really spoiled!

Disguised with his Cloak of Tarjayy, Flip-Or managed to leave the market without being seen by the guards.

"Those are all available, at a mark-up, of course!"

"Did you manage to get what I asked? - Did I ever let you down, Cat-Cha?"

"YES! Finally, a complete set to flip at an even higher price!"
"I located it using my Flip Detector!"

"I used the Sceptre of FOMO to snatch them before anyone could reach them!"

Backdrop of the market of Tarjayy
Flak-R, the evil doppelganger Bot of
Flip-Or (
blue and orange... now where have we seen that before?), comes with a lot of the same accessories as
Flip-Or (
Cat-Cha, mini Flip-Or figures, mini toy boxes), minus the flip bird hands, cloak and pocket watch/Sceptre of FOMO, but includes an extra
Robot head,
2 extra pairs of hands (
devil horn hands, and 'Flip Life' Knuckle Dusters), and a
Shroud of Walmarnia (
yellow cape with blue logo... *wink nudge*).
Flak-R stands for '
F***ing Lazy A**hole Killer Robot', by the way, in case you were wondering.

"I'll be taking those, Flak-R... to flip them, of course!"

Cat-Cha and Got-Cha, which can be used to store accessories. The computer also comes with stickers for the screen.
The figures are 5,5" tall, look great and really feel like the old
MOTU figures in hand, with more articulations (
think MOTU Origins). They also have a real
Flipping action with a spring loaded arm. I tried to record
Flip-Or flipping an item in his backpack but it ended up being more challenging than I thought (Sorry!). The elbows and knees can only bend a little. Heads and hands are easy to swap. The legs on my figures are slightly loose, which gave me nostalgia for the
MOTU figures I had as a kid, which probably have the same issue today. They can still stand up fine, or can be displayed doing the split, just to be sure. There are other figures in the line, all basically using the same molds: a
Stealth version of
Flip-Or, a
Gold version, a
Glow-in-the-Dark version, a "
Customizer's Dream" blank version, along with a
Flip-Bot and a
Flak-Bot, robot minions of both characters. You can also get additional
Bot-Chas. Looking forward to see what the future brings to the line.
So many possibilities! Like
Hemnes, the knight of AEKI, with his glass sword of Detolfia, or gangs like the
S.H.I.L.L or the
S.C.A.L.P... I have so many ideas... (
🤙 Call me!)
Walmarnia or Tarjayy, whose side are you on?
