Mondo Batman: The Animated Series 1/6 Scale Clayface (Exclusive) Review and Images

This week, we're having a look at the Batman: The Animated Series Clayface (Exclusive) figure from Mondo. What a FANTASTIC toy! It's huge, it has a soft plastic/rubber overlay on top of ratchet articulations and can move seamlessly and beautifully. I am blown away!

In Batman: The Animated Series, Matt Hagen was an actor ("The man of a million faces") who was disfigured in a car accident. While at the hospital, Roland Daggett, a corrupt indistrualist, approaches Hagen to offer him to be a test subject for 'Renuyu', a cream that would restore his looks. Long story short, he turns to crime to be able to get more Renuyu, and eventually gets an entire vat thrown at him and turns into Clayface, a huge shapeshifting monster.








The 1/6 scale Clayface figure from Mondo is huge and comes with a TON of accessories: 5 different head sculpts (or portraits as they call them at Mondo: normal, angry, grinning, impersonating Batman and a head with a grappling hook coming out of it), 3 pairs of hands, an axe hand, a spear hand, a crab claw hand, 2 hammer hands, a hook hand, a hand with blade fingers, a Daggett Renuyu cream box, a trapped Batman chest magnetic accessory and a puddle with a peg to attach a head on it. I have seen pictures where the color of the torso doesn't seem to match with the rest, but to the naked eye, it looks exactly the same. Some cameras seem to pick the colors differently.














This is such a fun toy. He looks like he just got out of the screen from the series. Alex Brewer, Tommy Hodges, Mark Bristow and the team at Mondo did a fantastic job (Fanplastic job... get it?) on this one. It is big and heavy, feels like soft plastic all over, but has those big ratchet joints under it (which make a ton of CLICK sounds when you move it, and sounds just like the knees of a person over 40 years old #relatable). I probably wouldn't leave him with his arms bent for extended periods of time, afraid that it would mess with the paint on it, but I handled him for a couple of hours in all sorts of poses, and he still looks awesome.

The next figure to be released from that line will be Robin, and Mondo put up Two-Face for pre-order just yesterday, with a limited edition available that includes a straight jacket and a couple more "portraits". Looking forward to that one!
