It's
Wednesday and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the "
A Goofy Movie" figure set from
Mondo, with
Goofy, his son
Max and
Powerline!
Dreams do come true! I loved this movie so much when I was a kid, and never even thought that it would be possible to get some plastic representations of those characters on our shelves.
And now, they're here! A
fantastic set for any nostalgic fans of the 90s movie!
A Goofy Movie is an animated movie from 1995, about
Goofy and his teenager son
Max going on a cross-country trip, while
Max had entirely other plans for his summer. He had to cancel his first date with his crush and told her that it's because he had to go see their favorite singer
Powerline, which now seems impossible to do...
unless... The movie is full of iconic moments and music that people from that generation still remember to this day (
Stand Out,
I 2 I,
On the Open Road...).
Sebastian Gomez, a super talented designer and sculptor, wished this set into existence by posting pictures of his designs for the figures online, similar to how
Mondo's
Real Ghostbusters line came to be, thanks to
Alex Brewer posting his renders. This set was designed by
Sebastian Gomez, sculpted by
Sebastian,
Brandon Gash and
Alex Brewer and painted by
Mara Ancheta. The very retro-looking packaging was designed by
Jordan Christianson.

The set includes
Max, with
3 different head sculpts (or
portraits: smile, sunglasses and opposum hat),
2 sets of arms (
resting and crossed), his
backpack,
Goofy with
3 different head sculpts (or
portraits: smiling, rocking out and opposum hat),
resting arms and a
rocking out right arm, a
soup cup with "Hi Dad" written in the alphabet soup, an
extra left hand to hold the soup cup and
Powerline, with
3 heads sculpts (or
portraits: smiling, singing and singing with eyes closed),
2 sets of arms (
resting and dance poses) and interchangeable hands.
3 stands are also included, but the figure don't necessarily need them to stay up (
Goofy tends to rock back and forth due to his long feet, though).
Max is about 6",
Goofy 8" and
Powerline 9.2".

Just like with the previous
Mondo Squads sets, the figures just have swappable heads, arms and hands but are still able to get into tons of fun poses. I have to admit that even if they didn't move, I would probably still have gotten this set, to have them on display somewhere near the TV.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug... The announcement had led me to watch the movie for the first time in easily 2 decades, and I have now watched it a handful of times again since (probably this week too, thanks to the figures arriving!). Crossing fingers we get another set down the line, with Max's crush
Roxanne and his friends
P.J. and
Bobby Zimuruski (
whose digital sculpt kinda started all of this). Kudos,
Mondo!
