It's
Wednesday and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the limited edition of the
Over The Garden Wall Chapter 2: Hard Times at the Huskin' Bee figure set from
Mondo! We started September with the first
Over The Garden Wall set, which included
Wirt,
Greg, his
frog and
Beatrice along with the big
Dog from the first episode, and we are now closing September with the second set, focusing on the second episode with the
Pottsfield Pumpkin People!
The eview of the first Mondo Over The Garden Wall set can be found here.
This second set was designed by
Joe Allard, beautifully sculpted by the talented
Brandon Gash and painted by
Scott Akers (
I really love when companies give credit to the artists). The packaging, as is tradition with
Mondo, looks gorgeous, with art and design by
Jordan Christianson, reminding of the title cards of the episodes.

The standard version comes with the
Pilgrim Pumpkin with
3 heads (or
portraits) and
swappable arms (
including slicing apple hands or hand holding corn), the
Ponytails Villager Pumpkin with
swappable arms, the
Grandpa Pumpkin with
swappable arm with earhorn, and
accessories that can be used with the figures from the
Chapter 1 set, such as
feet with stomped pumpkins for
Greg and
Wirt, a new
Beatrice, the
ball and chains attachments for
Greg,
Wirt and
Beatrice,
Wirt's
gardening gloves,
2 pitch forks, a
frog that can attach to one of the pitch forks and a
shovel. The limited edition adds the gigantic
Enoch figure with
multiple bendable arms, the
dancing cat and the
Larry, the skeleton with extra
pumpkin head.

"Oh! You're wearing costumes! - Well, sure. Pumpkins can't move on their own! Can they?"

"Say, aren't you a little too—early?" / "Huh? What?"
That second episode is a lot of people's favorite one due to those very odd
Pottsfield pumpkin people, with the '
funny' twist, foreshadowed by the
Ponytails Pumpkin asking
Wirt if they aren't a bit too early to be there... The
Enoch figure is gigantic, standing at 15" tall. I had planned to put them near the TV for the fall season, but
Enoch will hide half of the corner of the screen, so I have to figure out another place. The
Pumpkin people are fun little figures with tons of possibilities with the different heads and arms, plus the extra accessories are great to have for the first set.

"Well, now, hold on everybody. Heh, let's not jump to any conclusions..."
"Well, now, let's see here, boys. How'd you end up in this little town of ours? "

"Children... it saddens me that you don't wish to stay here with us, particularly because I simply have to punish you for your transgressions."
"For those other crimes, I sentence you to... a few hours of manual labor. "
The
Chapter 3 set should go up for pre-order very soon, with the teacher
Miss Langtree, the
animal students and the big
Gorilla.
"Ha-ha! Just a few hours of manual labor, and we're almost done."
