HEATBOYS Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Leonardo Action Figure Review and Images

It's Wednesday and you know what that means: ToyFarce review!

This week, we're having a look at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Leonardo (Deluxe Version) figure (+ Bonus) from HEATBOYS! I know what you're thinking: FINALLY, a brand has picked up the TMNT franchise! There was clearly a turtle shaped hole in everyone's collection, and now HEATBOYS is doing TMNT figures! This is a bigger figure, at around 9" (1/8th scale?) and it's a bit of a mess, but it does look awesome... Cowabunga, HEATBOYS?

The Standard figure and the Deluxe version accessories come in separate boxes, they are tied together with a sleeve that can be used as a backdrop/diorama, which is always nice. The packaging is rather sober, all black with pictures of the figure in the front, and just the legal text at the bottom on the back.







The Standard Leonardo comes with 2 heads, 7 pairs of hands, 2 bandana attachments, a shoulder armor, 2 katanas with sheaths, a katana effect, a dagger with sheath, 3 throwing knives, a turtle communicator, a grappling hook, and a slice of pizza. The bonus, masked head was added in this box as well. It's a gorgeous figure with a ton or articulations, but it can be a bit frustrating at times. The bandana attachments keep falling off, some parts feel a bit fragile (many reviewers had issue with the part to attach the katana sheaths to the shoulder armor, or the glue not holding up in some parts), the bandana attachments keep falling off, the dagger sheath doesn't really fit in its spot and you have to force it in, the katana sheaths have to be jammed into the tiny space to hold them, and did I mention the bandana attachments keep falling off? It's a beautiful mess of a figure. When you've navigated through that, though, it's a big, fun, highly articulated ninja turtle, that looks pretty awesome in any poses. I'm not a fan of the shoulders, who look very Revoltech/Amazing Yamaguchi-esque, but the shoulder armor hides that a bit. The butterfly shoulder joints are pretty great.






















The Deluxe version adds an extra screaming head, an extra pair of hands, a motorized skateboard with fire effects, a hat, a scarf, a gigantic sword and a big stand with articulated arm. One thing I really like about those accessories? Magnets! The figure has magnets under its feet and can 'stick' to the skateboard easily, and there are magnets on all heads, which allows for the hat to just stay on them (a bit like the Plunderlings, which have used the magnets for hats since their first wave). The look with the hat, scarf and gigantic sword is freaking amazing (it reminds me of those Fury Toys 'non-TMNT' figures). It's a great accessory pack. I haven't had to use the stand much, the figure has great balance (and articulated toes!)

The next in that newly rebranded HEFIG line will be Michelangelo, with a Standard and Deluxe version as well. Hopefully, we can expect all 4 brothers and the already announced Bebop and Rocksteady figures to come out eventually. Crossing fingers!
