Package Description
After his parents were murdered, young Dick Grayson was adopted by Bruce Wayne, becoming his ward… and, as the first Robin, The Boy Wonder, his partner in the war against crime. Years later, Robin struck out on his own as Nightwing and now lives in the corruption ridden city of Blüdhaven where by day he serves as a member of that city’s police department.

Appearance
Nightwing has a generic DCUC body, with only new forearms, shins, and head sculpt. The sculpt is a little buff for the agile Nightwing, and really doesn’t give the same impression as the comics. It makes sense that he’d be about the same size as Hal Jordan or Firestorm though, so stylistically he fits well with other figures. This figure showcases one of the main drawbacks of the line; there are some characters that need a different body type, and it hasn’t been made yet. The figure is a good interpretation of the character though, as this line continues to have excellent head sculpts. It’s just not comic accurate in body size, which isn’t new with this line.

The sculpt is smooth and without awkward cuts or obvious joints. The blue color on the chest contrasts the deep black well. What stands out visually of this figure is the blue, which has a crisp border and helps makes his poses look fluid. There’s not a lot of texture to the figure, but it would be hard to see with all the black. The only part of the figure that has a mentionable amount of detail is the head, with waves sculpted into the hair and a sculpted mask. The batons look nice; Mattel used a light grey to simulate metal well. Lastly, the paint application is good, but could easily be messed up with the stripes. Overall, this figure looks excellent, although a little bland design wise from the lack of texture.

Articulation
Nightwing has standard DCUC articulation and range of motion. It would be nice if the arms would hang closer to his sides, because the huge back muscles prevent it. He has bad range of motion in the head because of the hair; the head hardly moves at all. The ab joint has the improved range of Superman Red/Blue though.

Poseability
Nightwing can do a lot of great acrobatic poses, but it seems like you need a flight stand to get the best ones. Regardless, Nightwing has great dynamic poses, and poses well with Robin and Batman. Overall his poseability is top notch, the only problem being the range of motion in the head.

Final Judgment: 7

Nightwing is standard for this line. The range of motion and poseability is great for a superhero. The only thing that needs to be changed is a slimmer body, but this figure is consistent with the line. The design is a little bland compared to some other DCUC figures though, so if you’re picking and choosing what to buy, figures like Green Lantern or Aquaman might be a better choice.
