Package Description
Decorated military veteran Slade Wilson served his country one last time by volunteering for adrenocorticotropic hormone experiments. These experiments were supposed to increase the brain-activity and reflexes of its subjects, creating super-enhanced soldiers…but the subjects died or, like Wilson, were left crippled in a vegetative state. But Wilson began to recuperate, discovering that his strength, agility and stamina had all increased tenfold! He assumed the identity of Deathstroke The Terminator, assassin for hire.
Appearance
Deathstroke’s body sculpt looks like it has the same size and muscle sculpting as the generic DCUC body sculpt, with scales and other details added on. There are a lot of details on this figure in the form of scales, pouches, seams, and wrinkles. All these details and his weapons make this figure have a lot of different textures which interact well. With all the different things on the figure, visual attention is drawn to the weapons, which helps make him look powerful and menacing.
The choice of the dark colors was excellent, but the large unbroken areas of orange looks rather bland in comparison. These areas could have benefited from a paint wash or some black detailing. The orange on the lower torso also emphasizes the wide stance in the legs. Overall Deathstroke is a very fluid figure who can look as good as any other figure in the line.
Articulation
Deathstroke has standard DCUC articulation and range of motion. The head can’t look up, but it can look down and swivel side to side. His arms would be able to stay at his sides if the weapons weren’t in the way, but generally the weapons don’t limit range of motion. Deathstroke had a little more trouble balancing than other figures in the line.
Poseability
Deathstroke has a huge amount of poses he can do thanks to the variety of weapons he has. He looks good with all of them, but my preference is with his pole. Obviously he goes best against martial artists, but he looks good on display almost now matter what. Deathstroke is easy to make look good, although the best poses take a little work.
Final Judgment: 7
The wide leg stance and bland orange keep this score from going beyond excellent, but this figure is not to be underestimated. A lot of work went into the detailing and weaponry on this figure, and he has the easiest posing of any figure in the line. Deathstroke is a good buy even for someone who’s not a fan because of the high quality.
