2005 Toy Fair Coverage: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

February 21, 2005

Our 2005 New York International Toy Fair Coverage continues with a look at some of what Playmates Toys has coming in 2005 for their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line. Things to note are the Mech Wreckers coming out in the fall. Each comes with a figure inside the giant exo-skeleton. The motorized Mechs shoot missles and run forward and backward on their treaded tires. The ongoing TV show is going to feature Mutant and Monster in October. Playmates will be releasing a tie-in wave of figures around the same time. Also coming up is the 'Sewer Spewer" remote control car that shoots silly string. The next wave in the Mystic Fighters line is due in the Spring followed by a wave in the fall. The fall wave is planned to feature much more expressive, character-based faces but as final approval was not yet received, images are not presently available. There will also be a combat warrior line with yes - action features! You squeeze the legs and the arms twirl. One upcoming change for the Turtles is going to be the packaging, which will feature more dynamic art and character representations. Other upcoming vehicles include Zanramons Space Cruiser, new bikes with figures and the 3 - in - 1 vehicles, each sold separately but combine to make a larger toy.
