WizKids Offers SportsClix Trade-In

by Outsiders
December 10, 2004

Since the 2005 Edition of WizKid's MLB SportsClix will not be compatible with the original 2004 Edition of the game, WizKids is giving players who purchased the 2004 MLB SportsClix figures a chance to recoup up to $14.98 thanks to a limited-time trade-in offer. To participate, players have to purchase one MLB SportsClix 2005 Starter Set and one MLB SportsClix 2005 Booster Pack and download a rebate form from the WizKids Website. The customers must complete the rebate form and send it along with any nine players from the MLB SportsClix 2004 set plus the UPCs from the bottom of a newly purchased MLB SportsClix 2005 Starter Set and a 2005 Booster Pack as well as the original sales receipt from the purchase of the new 2005 items to the WizKids address indicated on the rebate form.

Customers will then receive a rebate check for an amount equal to the cost of the new 2005 Starter Set and 2005 Booster Pack (up to $14.98). The consumers are responsible for any sales tax and their packages containing the nine 2004 figures, coupon, UPCs and original sales receipt for the 2005 items must be postmarked no later than April 30th, 2005. WizKids is allowing just one rebate per household.

The rebate may help defuse adverse reactions from those who tried the game in 2004 and induce them to give the new version a shot, since they will be able to parlay their 2004 figures into a "cost-free" trial of the new and improved 2005 MLB SportsClix.
