MOTUC Castle Grayskull Playset By Joe Amaro

by Jay Cochran
August 30, 2009
This week's TNI Cool Custom figure is of custom Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull playset by Joe Amaro.

Here is how Joe describes the making of this playset:

"Inspired by the new Masters of the Universe Classics line.
The design is mainly based on the original box art, with some inspiration from the cartoon and the mini comics.

The structure of the castle is foam core.
The outside "skin" is a cheap Crayola clay.
For the larger areas I used first built it up with Aluminum Foil.

jamaro you need to insure your hands for $1M each, and then gold-plate them - your sculpting skills are off-the-hook! I've admired your 200X Custom Castle Grayskull since 2002!!! And this classics one does not disappoint. Do you ever wonder how much money you could fetch on eBay for these works of art?

what he did a castle greyskull of the 200x line? i havent seen that, pics please. :D:D

Joe might still have it on his site somewhere, I'm at work or I'd link itto ya, but I'd have to explain why there's a huge castle grayskull on my screen if someone inquired lol.

The 200X Castle he created is 3-dimensional, has all 4 walls and a roof, he even did some landscaping with a bridge if I recall. It's truely a work of art and in-scale with the figures. I hope he's planning to add the other 3 walls to this one.

i just checked the website and it is also amazing how he did it. joe, great work on the 200x castle. wow. i am amazed. i love your sigma six rambo figure. it looks fantastic. you should do snake mountain. i saw skeletors throne room and you should do a snake mountain.

I knew Toyfare was involved....I totally forgot it was For He-Man.org.....Learned your lesson?? I take it there's a sad,sad story with that remark.lol @smilepunch@

jamaro - 2009-08-28 @ 3:11 pm
So Joe when you create a piece do you make 2?? For example do you know who currently has the marzo that was auctioned a few years back by (I believe) Toyfare?? And secondly What would I need to do to get a Snake 2 armor?? I know you used to do commission work so I was just curious.....

Not really, usually I only make one.

Sometimes I sculpt them so I can make casts, so that they are sturdier.

The Count Marzo figure was made for ToyFare Magazine.

I donated it to He-Man.org and it was auctioned off to raise money for the site.

I usually do not do commission work for customs figures.

I learned my lesson @loll@
