The Original G.I. Joe Animated Movie Finally Makes It To Movie Theaters For A Limited Time In June

At long last the original G.I. Joe animated feature film will be shown in movie theaters on June 23 and 25 through Fathom Events. Tickets are on sale now.

For those not familiar, this movie never actually was shown in movie theaters back in the 80s. It was intended to be shown in theaters but ended up going to a straight to home VHS release due to the lack-luster box office performance the Transformers animated movie had, which ended up being released in theaters first. Of course both the Transformers and G.I. Joe animated movies today are viewed as classics by many fans. So this will be a unique opportunity to watch it on the big screen for the first time ever.

The Transformers movie however was never shown on regular TV. Probably because it showed the killing of Optimus unlike GIJoe where Duke managed to make a miraculous recovery at the last second which only happened because so many kids got upset over Optimus being killed.

Yeah, "He's gone into a coma" was originally "He's dead."

The best part of this movie to see and hear in the theater would be the opening with the Statue of Liberty and when whats-her-face breaks into the Terrordome. First time I heard the roaring sound of the Trouble-Bubbles flying around the Terrordome blew me away when I heard it in 5.1 surround sound.
