Two People People Killed On Black Friday At TRU & Wal-Mart

by Jay Cochran
November 28, 2008
CNN reports that a temporary Wal-Mart employee was trampled to death today at a Wal-Mart store in Long Island, New York when the store first opened its doors at 5 a.m as people rushed in to grab the early morning specials.

In a separate incident, two men were shot and killed in a Toys R Us in Palm Desert, California after they argued in the store. Toys R' Us issued the following statement on the shooting:

We are outraged by the act of violence that occurred this afternoon in Palm Desert, CA., and by the fact that anyone would compromise the safety and security of our customers and employees.

We are working closely with local law enforcement officials to determine the specific details of what occurred. Our understanding is that this act seems to have been the result of a personal dispute between the individuals involved. Therefore, it would be inaccurate to associate the events of today with Black Friday.
