Paris, FRANCE - Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest videogame publishers, reveals details about its booth concept for the upcoming GAMES CONVENTION trade show in Leipzig, Germany, to be held August 17 – 21, 2005.

With over 500 square metres on the show floor, Ubisoft will be presenting numerous new titles in Hall 3 (Booth# B 30) of the Leipzig trade show. Many of these, such as Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter™ and Prince Of Persia® 3 (working title), will be European premieres. In addition, there will be playable demos of Peter Jackson’s King Kong (for PS2®), Far Cry Instincts™ (in Single- and Multiplayer mode for Xbox®), Heroes Of Might & Magic® V (for PC), Brothers In Arms Earned In Blood™ (in Single- and Multiplayer mode for PC), Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Lockdown™ (for Xbox) and Darkwatch™ (for PS2).

On the afternoon of August 17th, a day exclusively reserved for trade professionals and media, Ubisoft will be inviting all visitors to attend a 1pm press conference at its booth. Michel Ancel, creator of the acclaimed Rayman® brand, will be presenting his latest title: Peter Jackson’s King Kong. The video game is based on Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated December 14th major motion picture release, King Kong, from three-time Academy Award® winning director Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings trilogy). Furthermore, Ubisoft will also be proudly unveiling the world premiere of a new title from the Might & Magic® universe.

Another 200 square metres in the Games Convention Business-Center 2 (Hall 2, Booth # D 12) will be devoted to the sales, distribution and press departments of the international publisher’s Düsseldorf office. Business partners, clients and press will be given an in depth look at new titles planned for the Christmas season and beyond.

This year, Ubisoft’s trade show concept will revolve around game-specific theme worlds, each with its own unique scenario, combining striking visual and acoustic elements to capture the imagination of their visitors. Feel the excitement and suspense, for example, as you wander through a replica of a Mexican neighbourhood taken straight out of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter™. A 70-seat cinema will also be showing enthusiastic gamers the latest version of Peter Jackson’s King Kong, while another will be host to the PS2 version of Prince Of Persia® 3.

About King Kong
Triple Academy Award® winner Peter Jackson (the Lord of the Rings trilogy) directs the dramatic adventure King Kong, bringing his sweeping cinematic vision to the iconic story of the gigantic ape captured in the wild and brought to civilization where he meets his tragic fate. Jackson assumes directing, producing and co-screenwriting duties and surrounds himself with a list of superlative filmmaking and acting talents.
Jackson re-teams with longtime collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens, co-writing the screenplay with three-time Oscar®-winning partner Walsh and their The Lord of the Rings co-writer, Academy Award® winner Boyens. Jan Blenkin, Carolynne Cunningham, Fran Walsh and Jackson produce the film under their WingNut Films banner.

Academy Award® nominee Naomi Watts (21 Grams) portrays Ann Darrow, an actress from the world of vaudeville who finds herself out of a job in Depression-era New York. Her luck changes when she meets Carl Denham, played by Jack Black (School of Rock). Denham is an entrepreneur, raconteur, adventurer and filmmaker who is struggling to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Bold, ebullient and charismatic, Denham has a natural sense of showmanship and an appetite for greatness, which ultimately leads to catastrophe. Academy Award® winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist) steps into the role of Jack Driscoll, a New York playwright, who becomes an unlikely hero in a romantic adventure story which will test his physical courage and his heart.

Andy Serkis (who performed the role of the CGI character Gollum in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy) provided both on-set performance reference and motion capture performance for the title character of King Kong. Serkis also appears onscreen playing Lumpy the cook, in service aboard the tramp steamer Venture, bound for Skull Island, under the command of Captain Englehorn, played by Thomas Kretschmann (U-571). Colin Hanks (Orange County) portrays a production assistant to filmmaker Carl Denham and Kyle Chandler (television’s Early Edition) takes on the role of Bruce Baxter, a 1930’s movie star cast opposite Ann Darrow in the film Denham is shooting.

Visual effects are again accomplished by New Zealand-based companies Weta Digital, under the direction of Oscar® winner Joe Letteri and Weta Workshop, under the direction of Oscar® winner Richard Taylor. Visual effects and miniatures will supplement practical locations in creating the primordial jungles of Skull Island and the bustling metropolis of ‘30s-period Manhattan.
