Earlier
this week we got our first indication that
Mattel was planning on releasing a
Masters of the Universe Origins Castle Grayskull playset. This was thanks to a listing that showed up on a Florida based distributor website that had it listed with a November release date. At that time I found the listing strange, mainly because we had been previously told by Mattel that Walmart would be the only place to carry Masters of the Universe Origins this year.
Shortly after that listing was reported, a very low res image surfaced online that was said to show the interior of the new playset.
I still haven't been able to confirm the legitimacy of this image from any sources I know to be reliable, but for the sake of argument I am going to say it is legit.
Since the other day, we have since gotten indications of the set showing up in the Target store computers. I also did some checking with few of those sources I find reliable. They have confirmed for me that in fact there is a Origins Grayskull playset coming from Mattel. I am told the price will range from $75-$80, and it should be available anywhere that chooses to carry it. In other words it's not going to be a store exclusive.
As for when it will be released, that still seems up in the air. I've heard anywhere from November to late December or early January. My guess large retail outlets like Target and maybe Amazon will get it before the smaller etailers.
If the image above is legit and final, I would say Mattel has taken their original Castle Grayskull playset (not to be confused with the more modern and larger Classics one) and made some slight alterations to it. It's also still unclear if the Sorceress figure seen in the image will be included, but my guess is that it will since the other vehicles we have seen for this line have included figures.
I don't know when Mattel is going to get around to officially announcing this thing, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't show up someplace like Amazon before to long. As we reported earlier this morning, Amazon is already taking pre-orders for Origins figures and listing them with a November 15th release date. Since this morning they added
Beast Man and there is a place holder for
Trap Jaw as well. Check out links to the figures currently listed on Amazon below.
Man-At-Arms
Evil-Lynn
Teela
Scare-Glow
Man-E-Faces
Orko - Is being sold by the Amazon Global Store right now
Beast Man
Trap Jaw - Currently listed as unavailable but will want to keep an eye on

Buzz-Off's eyes always weird me out a bit. Are they open? Is he squinting? I'm not quite sure.
