Well Im glad the Gremlins figure didnt get funded as hopefully now theyll just find a way to release it the normal way without people being stuck paying an extra $25 for stuff they dont want.

Too bad about Splinter though

I like the NECA TMNT movie figures and I preordered the Splinter, Shredder, Foot Soldier bundle but as good as this figure looks I don't need it this badly. I don't want have to jump through hoops or buy a bunch of stuff I don't need or want to get it.

everything you said iscorrectand not getting thissplinter figure at this time. I support neca a lot but not on this venture. Ithink this is a bad decisionmade by them.

These kick starters appear to be about 1/3 through and thus far the only one that seems in position to move forward is the Turtles one. (Of course theres always a big jump at the end).

Again though Im really hoping none of these go through. This method of selling the customers these figures at a higher price and justifying that by including a bunch of crud those same customers would not be likelyto pay an extra $25 for if they didnt have to do so just to get a figure is just going to decrease the satisfaction within the customer base which will eventually hurt the business in addition to creating dissatisfaction with your customers. The best way to fix these is to have these fail so that NECA adjusts according and sells the wanted figures at the correct price point instead of lumping them into these boxes.

I can't believe I just paid practically $60 for a figure lol I just saw this post and had to go and support the crate. Thanks guys! lol?

I dont like rooting for things to fail. But I hope this fails. If it fails then there is still always a chance NECA would wise up and release these figures at a normal $25ish price range instead of lumping it with a bunch of crud no one really wants and charging $50. But in order for that to happen these need to fail and those of us who do not like this model need to hope for that so that they will change their course.

Not sure how loot crate completely works,Iknow it's a monthly subscription. I would really like that splinter to go along with all the tmntmovie figures that I have. Don't know if there is enough information for meto justify subscribing to loot crate.

I don't know how it's going to work under NECA, but here is how they worked before.

1.Company advertises with a specific theme to a box ( example Dragonball Z themed box, Legend of Zelda theme)

2. Advertise that this box has a LOOTCRATE exclusive item (this item will ALWAYS be a crappy repainted toy: example, a blood-stained vinyl minifigure Xenomorph) These items will always be resold on eBay- and if you wait a couple months, they will be dirt cheap if for some reason you want them

3. Fill the rest of the box with junk that overflows the clearance section of your local Hot Topic

So yeah, it is no surprise why this business model failed miserably

So Im just really confused by this. From what little Ive seen while these are still mostly blind box it looks like these are now being done in a kickstarter model instead of a subscription model. Im not sure which is worse as Im not a fan of either. If you were asking to kickstart just the figure thats one thing but asking $50 for me to kickstart a $20-25 figure and then a bunch of otherstuff that I dont need is ridiculous.

And with the Gremlin its even more absurd because the Gremlin is actually a two in one where he comes with the clothes and accessories to make 2 different Gremlins from the movie. Thus obviously anyone who is wanting this is someone who is trying to get all the Gremlincharacters in their collection. That means the target audience for this would really want to buy 2 of them which means they end up paying $100 and get all the same extra junk they didnt want twice (which means even if they did end up liking whatever T-shirt/keychain/sticker sheet/mug/etc that comes in this blind box they certainly wouldnt want/need 2).

It was at least originally a blind box subscription service which personally I've never been a fan of. You subscribe and hope you get something cool. The original company went bankrupt and the same guy who owns NECA essentially bought it. How he really plans to make it successful where the original concept obviously failed other than using it as a channel for releasing NECA exclusives IDK.

The Force is strong with that Splinter figure.
