Aliens Kenner Inspired Space Marine Drake Figure From NECA

by Jay Cochran
October 17, 2019
Inspired by the classic Kenner Expanded Universe of the early 1990s, Drake is back and ready to hunt some Aliens.

The figure is highly posable, with nearly 30 points of articulation. It also comes with a special blade attachment that connects to the barrel of the Smart Gun barrel or the figure's back. The packaging is an homage to the classic Kenner art, featuring custom illustrations and a color palette reminiscent of the toy shelves of the early '90s. You can pre-order this figure at BigBadToyStore.com.

Another reuse with not much of articulation, but then again that Base body has really good sculpt, especially arms.

I'm digging the Kenner look here. Anyone notice how his gun kinda looks like the upcoming classified Roadblocks gun. I wonder if this is where Hasbro got their inspiration from?

That's just baffling to me. The Kenner line was..fine? in a cartoony way,I guess? but to have a NECA-quality set of marines....like Drake, or the Sarge, along with who they've already produced...that would be stunning. I don't understand why there isn't a huge demand for that to be produced. Ah well, between Vasquez, Hicks, Hudson and Ripley in her Power Loader, there is a decent good amount of product there.

NECA has released new packaged images for their upcoming Kenner tribute Aliens Space Marine Drake 7" figure which they say is on track to start shipping out later this month.

I found the video game two pack at GameStop the other day, glad I didn't preorder those online before seeing them in person. The figures I saw looked awful. Some of Neca's stuff just looks really cheap and fragile to me. Like knockoff toys.

$23.99 is not too bad, considering most figures are running at the price. But, it's not something I desire, at least at that price. If I were to buy this figure, it would just an army building type of addition to my collection. A random soldier to add in my toy photography.
