I'm excited to share Mandarin Spawn with you. This figure is part of the GOLD LABEL COLLECTION SERIES found at @Walmart! Pre-orders for this figure start October 1st so keep an eye on the McFarlane Toys Facebook for ALL the details! #spawn #mcfarlanetoys pic.twitter.com/2sb8BoLImZ
Red version will be much better, blue just seems out right wrong, maybe if it was more metallic or glittery ordarker it might have looked better. I do wish we would get instead of that just more articulated version of Mandarin Spawn 2 figure, that version was waycooler and would make for just a awesome looking figure, they way Todd likes it.
The lack of paint apps(wash mostly) is unfortunate it makes the figure looks cheap.
The paintwork looks really unfinished...no washes on anything and gray primer throughout the figure.

I was thinking the same thing. A wash would probably help a lot. I still want to see the red version.

Nahhh, still doesn't look as good as the original, hate the spawn logo on the forehead.
What about the regular version?
Todd McFarlane today revealed the packaging for their upcoming 7" Gold Label Mandarin Spawn figure which will be released as a Walmart exclusive and goes up for pre-order on October 1. There will be a regular version released in red with some other variations. It's still unknown if the regular version will have it's own unique Spawn packaging like this one, or if it will be released under The Witcher banner which is how the figure was first listed when it originally showed up earlier in the year on some overseas solicitations. Todd hasn't gone into many details for the regular release one yet. Could Todd be sneaking out a full on new Spawn action figure line or is this just special packaging for this one figure?

Spawn was actually IN Mortal Kombat 11, which makes sense to have a figure version of him. Its just a cross promotional way of getting figures made and spawn cross over together. McFarlane did the same thing when Soul Calibur 2 came out and spawn guest starred in the Xbox version of the game. With that deal, he made figures of some of the cast as well as 2 versions of spawn from the game. There is no tie in with Witcher and Spawn. I would hazard a guess that a 5 year old game will not suddenly be getting a new update that has any form of spawn in it to sell more copies. I would also find it an extremely strange move to market a mandarin spawn as a witcher figure. All that will do is confuse tf out of people. If anything, this gold label is more of a round about all star miscellaneous property akin to NECAs player select line they had years ago. It had miscellaneous characters from many different video games, but in one line.
As for the figure itself, I used to love the original. I even had the original and a variant of it as well as the 2nd revision where they remade it. I had to purge and sell them as I really dont have the taste for most of my mcfarlane spawn figs anymore. But this one is a shell of what the original looked like. I dont really like how he articulates his figures as well. Hopefully if he does any later spawn releases, they have better reworkings. Fingers crossed for santa spawn and gunslinger spawn!
