Those look a lot like ML special effects to me, the regular release nor do I believe this one came with anything much.
Hey Everyone! And Anyone who knows - Where can I get those AWESOME "Magic Effects" for Doctor Fate? He doesn't come with them. At least mine didn't and none of the ones I have seen on the shelves did either.. Does anyone know? Are they tamashi Effects? (or whatever they are called lol)
It sucks that you have to pay more than twice the price for Platinum figures, let alone being hard to find in the first place. Hopefully, Todd can give people the option of buying it directly from his store.
Some day we will find out why Todd gave gun holding hands to superheroes like Superman, Dr. Fate and others. Maybe special never before seen open magic hand variant is not far off.
Following up on our story from yesterday, Jwmp_show points us to an image posted by overseas shop Ht Toyshop which gives us a side-by-side comparison of the regular edition and Platinum Edition DC Multiverse 7" Injustice 2 Dr. Fate figures. While neither box shown here has the Platinum Edition sticker on it, he thinks the one on the right is in fact the Platinum Edition version and the one on the left is the regular version. Basically the one on the right has much lighter blue colors on it which is in keeping with the official PR images we have seen for the figure. While we can't say for sure, for now that's what we will go with.
Shown below via Jwmp_show are in-hand images for the DC Multiverse 7" Injustice 2 Dr. Fate figure from McFarlane Toys. Now Jwmp tells us despite having the Platinum Edition sticker on the front of the packaging, they aren't sure which version this figure actually is. Earlier in the month we told you how their would be a Platinum Edition figure for this one coming. In that story we showed you an image of it, and though the quality of it wasn't great it seemed like the lighter blue on the sides was more of a sky blue than what we had seen for the regular figure.Now while the figure Jwmp has does look like the PR images originally released by McFarlane for the regular version, this doesn't look like the in-hand images for the regular one we previously showed you from Mark Collection.It is looking like McFarlane got their two figure mixed up when they released the PR images for the regular version showing off the Platinum Edition instead. We saw something similar happen with their Justice League Movie Platinum Batman figure as well.
Remember Platinum Edition figures are essentially chase versions randomly inserted into the assortment. We never know exactly how many of the Platinum Edition ones there will be and when ordering online it's always possible you could end up being sent a Platinum Edition figure as opposed to the regular one. In the case of this Dr. Fate figure, the differences between the two are pretty minor, but I do think if you get the regular version you will get the lighter blue on the sides. The Platinum Edition will have the darker blue on the side as shown here.
