McFarlane Toys TMNT Toy Listings Possibly A Mistake?!?

Yesterday we were the first to report how a Canadian Distributor had put up some strange listings for new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products that appeared to be more kid oriented type stuff. You can see the listings below. The strange thing about the listing is that the distributor showed they were coming from McFarlane Toys as opposed to Playmates Toys which is the company one would expect to see making stuff like this.

Today those listings have been removed from the distributor website, which that unto itself isn't to surprising. Even if the listings where accurate they probably weren't meant for public consumption at this time. What is a little strange however is when you click on the link to one of the specific products that were listed yesterday, all that comes up on the page now is a Playmates Toy logo. You can CLICK HERE to check it out.

As we cautioned yesterday, nothing has been confirmed about McFarlane Toys doing TMNT, let alone product for the new animated movie as some have been reporting. We also suggested it was possible this distributor could have made an error in what toy company was making the TMNT product they had listed. I still can't sit here and tell you which scenario is accurate, but I do find it odd that a Playmates Toys logo was left in the place of the original listings, suggesting perhaps these were actually Playmates Toys product listings and not McFarlane.

Since neither company is likely going to comment on this until or if there is some kind of official announcement made, which at the earliest would likely be in February around Toy Fair time, it will probably be a while before we know one way or the other what is going on. But ONCE AGAIN, just know that nothing is even remotely confirmed about McFarlane doing any kind of TMNT let alone something specific like new movie products.

Yeah I'm doubting now that McFarlane got the license for Turtles and it was just an error, interesting to see these toys though so we can see what the Turtles might look like, my thing is why? do they always have to keep changing the Turtles looks? just give us what we saw as kids and stop trying to change the design every 5 years, these guys have weird big looking doe eyes or something.

Images have surfaced online featuring the first product for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem computer animated movie from Seth Rogan. specifically we are looking at the Mutant Mayhem Sewer Shredding Leo & Half Pipe RC Donnie. It's not clear from these images what company is producing these products. The movie is slated for release in August 4, 2023.

So, since 2003, it was Spin Master Toys that was the Canadian Distributor for Playmates Ninja Turtles toys.

However, I think since this year, at some point, Import Dragons became the Canadian Distributor for Playmates Ninja Turtles toys, as they are also the Canadian Distributor for McFarlane Toys products as well. I got the Wal-mart Exclusive Playmates Retro Reissue Ralpheal figure, and the back packaging states it is Import Dragons, not Spin Master toys. Here's a link to Import Dragon's site, and you will see brands for the various products they are importing to Canada, including McFarlane stuff, and Ninja Turtles:

-Imports Dragon

If you click on the product logos, they will take you to other websites, so the brands that McFarlane does(DC Multiverse, Avatar, The Witcher, etc.), it takes you to the McFarlane website, while Ninja Turtles takes you to Playmates Ninja Turtles site.

So most likely case is that it was a mix up on Import Dragons part. Unless McFarlane Toys got the rights to be producing some form of Ninja Turtles toys, though I have to be honest, I would expect them to be based on 1 of the recent the Mortal Kombat video games if it was anything.

I can totally see it being a mistake. I doubt Playmates would give up their big brand

It would be totally awesome to see how Mcfarlane treats the TMNT license if this is true. I don't think it would affect other companies either way.

These should be really good with the way he builds figs

At this point every company gets the chance to do its own TMNT line so why not. I'm not too keen on Seth Rogen movie Turtles designs, which seem more of a mix of modern incarnations rather than classic so I really hope they can make Image comics style ones that had crossover with Spawn.
