October 23, 2024
Last weekend McFarlane Toys held an all-brand panel at the 2024 New York Comic Con which we brought you live coverage of and you can watch below if you like. We wanted to circle back to this and breakdown everything that was announced during the panel for you all. You can also check out images of all the slides shown as well as some of the product they had in-hand at the show below in our IMAGE GALLERY.

It should be noted that unless stated as a store exclusive, these products some of which are already available for pre-order can be purchased at our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth.

The panel started with them running a fan vote with members of the audience where the winning character would be made into a DC Multiverse figure. The 4 choices people could vote on included Green Lantern Jade, Classic Bizarro, The Guardian and Classic Eradicator.

They then moved on to their Movie Maniacs line starting with the two Beetlejuice 6" figures available for pre-order now. Then they showed the next two figures from the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie which are Astrid and Bob The Shrinker. The later two will be up for pre-order soon.

Next they showed their Red One Movie Maniac Figures. The movie opens in theaters on November 15. They are doing 6" figures of Nick, Callum Drift and Krampus in the first wave.
They are also doing a 2-Pack with Jack O' Malley Vs Snowman and an Amazon exclusive 4-Pack featuring Nick Callum, Nick, Krampus and Garcia The Polar Bear. These will be available for pre-order on October 24.

They then moved on to Spawn showing the new Spawn #1 1:10th Scale Resin Statue which is available for pre-order now. They also showed the two Spawn 6" Call Of Duty figures also available for pre-order now. They also officially announced the Blue Sketch Spawn variant figure which is being sold as a Walmart exclusive. Spawn was originally going to be blue because Todd thought Spawn was going to be a space based character when he was first creating him. Finally for Spawn they talked about the Target exclusive Page Punchers 2-Pack with Raven Spawn and Ninja Spawn.

For their new Marvel line of posed figures they talked about the 1:6 Wolverine from Incredible Hulk #340 and 1:6 Hulk from #345 which are available for pre-order now. They also showed their 1:6 Thor from Mighty Thor #177 based on Jack Kirby art and Symbiote Spider-Man from Secret Wars #8.

For 1:10 Marvel Posed figures they showed the Venom (ASM #316), Miles Morales (MMSM #1), Captain America (CA #100), Magneto (X-Men #1), Spider Man (ASM #68) and Green Goblin Platinum Edition ASM #312). These are all available for pre-order now.

McFarlane then went on to announce changes being made to their Platinum Edition figures starting in 2025. So you will have the following types of Platinum Edition stickers of select figures:

- Silver Sticker - 1 to 1 Color Chase Variant
- Red Sticker - Unique Chase New Character figure. These are largely going to be in-store chase figures.
- Gold Sticker - Ultra Rare Figure and include authentic artifacts from movies.

Todd says these limited chase figures allow them to get more in the way obscure characters out to market. For the first Gold Sticker Platinum figure they announced which won't actually have the sticker will be a Red One Dwayne Johnson figure that will feature an actual piece of cloth from his outfit.

Next they moved on to the DC Multiverse line going over figures that had already been announced including Batman Beyond (Neo Gothic), Batman (Batman: Noel), Batman With Ace The Bat-Hound (1950s), Commander Steel (Target Exclusive), Sinestro Parallax (Target Exclusive), Hal Jordan Metallic Green Lantern (Walmart Exclusive) and Action Comics 1000 Variant Superman (Walmart Exclusive). I literally said "First Contact Beverly" and "First Contact Troi," so yes, I am. And I'm curious why you didn't go with a standard Jadzia head on a TNG Beverly body. Surely the proportions would look better (she's looking kinda short and bobble headed there), and the figure would be closer in appearance to the few minutes she spends in that uniform in "Emissary."

That's a good question. The Tribbles figure was certainly easier to find. I remember liking it better for some reason, but it might have just been a cost thing.

I put a Dax (Tribbles) head on Troi's TNG uniform body. It's the closest I will probably ever get to a 1/12 Dax in my favorite uniform. From a distance, the Dax head is ok, but up close it's really lacking.

Jadzia and Beverly shared bodies. Ezri shared a body with First Contact Troi (it might have actually been First Contact Beverly's torso and Troi's hips and legs. I'd have to dig them out of storage to check, and I don't intend to do that). And I agree with you that those aren't among the best of that line. You're also not saying anything that I didn't, really. Most of them (some were also just adequate and some others were very not) were great for their time, which generally implies that they don't really meet today's standards. But you said that none of the core characters have never been made well, and that's really just not true. They were. They may not hold up anymore, but many of those figures were excellent for the '00s.

That's arguable. Most of the Art Asylum/DST Star Trek figures were great...for their time (fifteen to twenty years ago).

Oh, and the core characters that have never been made well (which is, of course, all of them).

Yeah, imagine the TOS bridge crew with tricorders, phasers. Balok would be cool. Also, Elaan of Troyius in that purple suit of hers, Shahna, and the Mirror Universe Spock & Uhura.

Admiral Kirk from the first movie (that's the only uniform in that flick that looked good!) and Ilia (android).

My favorite uniforms of all, the TWOK outfits (including the bomber jacket Adm Morrow wore on Search for Spock).

The sky's the limit for them, if they can do it right. Because its not just action figure collectors that will want these.

Just give me a bunch of nice TOS figures.

Kirk, Spock and McCoy, TOS style, that's all I ask for
