It's
Wednesday and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at the
S.H.Figuarts Beetlejuice (1988) figure from
Bandai/
Tamashii Nations. When it rains, it pours when it comes to
Beetlejuice figures, as a deluge of figures has hit our shelves this year, with still a few to come (
Mezco,
Hot Toys...). I don't know if I will get them all, but I haven't been disappointed so far... Now, a
Beetlejuice figure from the Japanese brand behind all the great anime figures with crazy articulations?
I had to check that.
A few weeks ago, I posted a review of the 3 latest
NECA Ultimate Beetlejuice figures, and knowing that this one was on the way too, I hesitated to a '
Beetlejuice month' thing, reviewing one
NECA figure per week over 3 weeks and this
Bandai one last, but decided to group the
NECA one in order to get rid of a lot of the backlog I have (
ok, 'want') to review. This figure arrived a few weeks ago, and since I said its name way more than 3 times in the last review, it was its time!

The
S.H.Figuarts Beetlejuice comes with
2 heads (
one normal and a shrunken one),
3 face plates for the normal head,
9 different hands (
open, fists, pointing, nail filing hands,...), the
signboard with his name, the
Maitlands gravestone and a
stand for the sign or to keep him seated on the gravestone. The
likeness of the faceplates is decent, but happen to look better in certain angles or light. With full lights on, it's a bit off, but when posing him a bit, you can see it more, somehow. The face plates can be changed by removing the front part of his hair and removing the face. Pretty on theme! The
shrunken head is a fun one, and only available with that figure so far.

The
articulations are, of course, better than the
NECA figures.
Bandai has a long history of having great articulations, so it doesn't come as a surprise. The figure really looks great, even if it is a bit tiny next to the
NECA ones. I didn'ttake a lot of comparison pic, but if you want a picture of that figure next to something else, let me know and I'll post it!
"Sure... I can help them, but you got to help me."
"I want out... for good. In order for me to do that, I got to get married."

"Okay... Beetlejuice... Beetlejuice... Beetlejuice."
"IT'S SHOWTIME!"

Thank you for doing this! I apologize for not seeing it until just now.

Live action Thrawn looks so much better than cartoon Thrawn (and it's rare I say that, given what happened to all the other cartoon characters turned live action).
I love it. It's like owning a tiny blue Lars Mikkelsen!

Figuarts are typically a bit on the smaller side, so how does he scale with like a Marvel Legend or some other standard 1/12 scale figure?

Thank you for this review! The arms look a bit weird to me in some angles, but overall, it achieves more than the NECA version to me. Also, the lighting is five stars on your pictures!
Im not a big fan of Figuarts, but this is the best Beetlejuice figure so far in my opinion. They really nailed his expressions. Id like to see what they could do with Lydia.
It would be nice if any company would do more than just Beetlejuice himself. Maybe a Day-O Delia. Or a I will go insane and I will take you with me! Delia.
Neca this is what we want from you! Striped suit Beetlejuice from the first movie as an ultimate.
