Batgirl #64
Batgirl vs. Ravager!

Last time I reviewed this book, Deathstroke was going after Batgirl. Well folks, this isn’t really the case. Not only was this issue great it outdid the last one.

If you didn’t check out the last one, Penguin has a hit on the heads of Robin and Batgirl. It seems Deathstroke has taken the job. At the end of the issue, we found out that Deathstroke was not the one taking the hit; it was really his daughter, Ravager. Deathstroke has lead Batgirl into the trap, now lets see if she escapes.

I’ll say this now, this issue was fantastic. Story, Writing, Art, everything!

The main story was really a battle between Batgirl and Deathstroke. We have not seen Ravager in action for awhile so this was quite a treat. It was great to see how Batgirl studied her movements and how she manages to determine how good her skills truly are.

Ravager in general is a great character who you really want to see more of in the future. Her whole purpose to impress her father builds onto the character a lot. In a way this is how Batgirl could have been if she never left her father.

Another great thing about this fight is Batgirl sees what I just mentioned within Ravager. Batgirl really impressed me yet again. Perfect examples of her exploiting the fact Ravager can only see out of one eye or telling Deathstroke how pathetic he is.

Deathstroke, the harsh or perfect father? The writer shows how serious he is about the job. He is hard on his daughter and refuses to help her due to the fact she took the job and it isn’t his job. You see his anger when she is in danger but his pride won’t let him interfere.

Overall, the story was just fantastic. I can’t really stress it enough.

The writing and art team once again have impressed me a lot. There have been rumors online that Garza will no longer be doing Batgirl and artist Pop Mahn will be taking Garza’s place. While I like Pop’s art, I would miss Garza a lot. Garza has really impressed me on this title; in fact I will say Ale Garza is the best ongoing artist on the title so far.

I’m sure you already know what I’m giving this title. 5 out of 5 from me. One of the best books out that you should be reading.
