I have a question regarding the recent BSG figures that have been released. We all know by now that the line is “cancelled/on hold”, and you’ve said in the past that it’s due to high production costs, but I’ve noticed recently that it seems like you’ve been doing more than is needed- for example.. The number 8s. I thought for sure they would have the same head as New Caprica Boomer, just different hair, but it seems that all 3 figures have completely different sculpts! Also, for the flight suit Athena, why didn’t you just use the Starbuck 2-pack tank top, and 6’s arms? I noticed that they are completely new molds as well! Does this mean profit is up and we may see Roslin yet?

DSTChuck: Mike, some of that might have saved some money, but those figures were started quite some time ago. It just kept being bad luck that held up their release. A smaller company like DST always has to cut a close line between being frugal and not giving enough to our fans.

Chuck, for the BSG Boomer & Athena Two-Pack, officially, which one is which? Do the figures align with the photos on the front of the package, with Boomer dressed in blues and Athena in the flight suit? Just wanted to get an official nod from DST. Given the Number Eight’s are well… pretty much all identical in looks to one another… = ) Thanks! - James

DSTChuck: Yes James the package names line up with the figures in the packge.

Hi Chuck, - although there are no Stargate figs at all for this year, you said DST has occasionally debated the idea of possibly re-releasing the SG1 gate and figs in the future. (I appreciate that is no certain thing.) Has there ever been any such consideration for the Atlantis version of the Stargate too? - Its frustrating because although I have purchased the equivalent number of DST figures to complete a second build em financially, I can’t lay my hands on the gate pieces I need. - Even through purchasing single accessories from other collectors.

DSTChuck: Andy, I think there have been many more request at this point for SG1, but that mean if we do SG1 and it’s a success we would then look at Atlantis.

Greetings Chuck and Company! Received my Boomer and Athena figures a week or so and love them. I’ve noticed that the figures are shorter than the New Caprica Boomer. Was that on purpose or just a weird production thing? Either way, I think they look great. Questions! 1. Leader Wave coming soon? How’s it looking? I’ve seen a couple of toy sites mention June 30th. Is that Accurate? 2. I know you said the 2 packs are just doing okay but how did the latest TRU wave do? I know I’ve seen that Commander Adama on various sites for about 40 bucks a piece. I was lucky enough to get one AT tru for much lower but I see many paying through the nose for him. Any hope or discussion of another TRU wave going on and if so will we get Roslin(i know you’re tired of hearing about her lol so just give her to us, guys!) 3. This is more of an all inclusive question about all your action figure lines. Have you guys ever though of doing an wave of figures that has one character from everyone of your lines? YOu could call it like Sci-fi heroes or something(in the line of Mcfarlane’s old movie maniacs). Picture it. The first wave could be something like Quark from DS9, Roslin from BSG, a new Spock and or KIrk(cause we know the wave has to have SOME heavy hitters to do business), some Wolfram and Hart villains from Angel, etc. What do you think about that? Has that idea been floated around? later, gang.

DSTChuck: They should have been about the same size, I’ll have to go back and compare finished copies of each to see. Right now the leader wave is not looking too good. We’ve lowered the number we need to make it happen as much as possible but sales is not having much luck getting retailers and distributors to take it in.

I hope that I get an answer to this, either through a direct e-mail or a Q & A on the blog. Now, I know that BSG is cancelled, but IS STARGATE CANCELLED OR ON HIATUS?

DSTChuck: We still have the rights to Stargate and have product we have not put out so we really don’t want to say cancelled - in case we can find a buyer for some product. For that reason we say hiatus, it’s not being evasive at all. We are not planning on any Stargate releases for the balance of 2010.
